For several years now, the institution has been contributing to the implementation of the Lithuanian Strategy “Lithuania 2030” by organizing events for dissemination of multilingualism and promoting language learning in schools, universities and life long. Such an event is also a national celebration of the European Day of Languages.
The European Day of Languages event has traditionally been organized by the Public Service Language Centre since 2010. The purpose of this event is to educate the Lithuanian society on the issues of European multilingualism, to foster cultural and linguistic diversity and to encourage everyone to learn languages in schools, universities and beyond. To mark the European Day of Languages, several events are held each year: language workshops, a language fair, an exhibition of children’s drawings and the final of the Battle of brains for the Lithuanian teenagers.. The events are organized in cooperation with foreign missions, cultural centres, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation, the Lithuanian Children and Youth Center, Vilnius Teachers’ House and other institutions.
