Erasmus+ project “The New Role of Teacher in the Context of War in Ukraine and Rising Migration”

Since June 2023, the Public Service Language Centre (PSLC) team has been actively engaged in
implementing the Erasmus+ project for the mobility of learners and staff in adult education,
titled The New Role of Teacher in the Context of War in Ukraine and Rising Migration (Project
Number: 2023-1-LT01-KA122-ADU-000128259). Today, teachers and lecturers faced with the
task of educating multi-ethnic pupils and students undertake a challenging role: not only do they
impart knowledge, but they often find themselves aiding foreigners, immigrants, and war
refugees in adapting to our country, acquainting them with our culture and customs, addressing
intercultural misunderstandings, and fostering a supportive psychological atmosphere conducive
to learning. While juggling multiple roles, teachers and lecturers often find themselves lacking
the knowledge to navigate conflicts and stressful situations effectively. That is precisely the
opportunity the PSLC staff had during the project’s mobility programs.

..

In October 2023, four members of PSLC staff participated in a professional development course
for language instructors at the Gateway English School in Malta, aimed at enhancing the
intercultural learning environment. The learning took place actively throughout the entire week:
teachers were engaged in discussions, reflections, group work, etc. Subsequently, in March 2024,
three PSLC lecturers – Daiva Stasiulionienė, Rita Samukienė, and Audronė Auškelienė – took
part in the Erasmus Learning Academy course, specifically the learning workshop titled Stress
and Conflict Management: The Way to Resilience and Satisfaction. During the workshop,
participants gained insightful theoretical perspectives and explored numerous practical activities
and tools designed to effectively manage and navigate stress and conflicts in their roles.

From 3 October to 16 March 2024, the training Stress and Conflict Management: The Path to
Resilience and Satisfaction was held in Tenerife, Spain. Participants hailed from diverse
European countries, including Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Greece, Croatia, France,
and Portugal.
